August 17 – Simha Sankramanam

Simha Sankramana is the transition of Sun God from Kataka (Cancer) raasi to Simha (Leo) raasi. Both men and women from the whole of southern India celebrate Simha Sankramana with a lot of zeal. Sankramana punya snanam is a significant custom of this day that is done only in holy water. On Simha Sankramana , devotees worship Lord Vishnu, Sun God, and Lord Narsimha Swami.
