The full moon day is known as Pournami or Purnima. This is considered an auspicious day and people perform Pournami Vratam and Sri Satyanarayana Pooja. People also observe fast on this day. Pournami is significant because Guru Poornima (Vyasa’s birthday), the birthday of Buddha, the birthday of Lord Anjaneya occur in this tidhi. Lord Narayana is worshipped on this day by reciting slokas.
