The celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita was celebrated at the residence of Sri Tirupati Thattai Srinivasan at Gandhinagar in Alwarthirunagar, Chennai 600087 on April 16, 2022.
This year marks the 90th year celebrations of the event. Started in 1932 by V.Y.D. Doraiswamy Iyengar swamin in Tiruchanoor near Tirupati, the Sita Kalyanam event has been going on unhindered till now, thanks to the participation of three generations of the family.
This year, Sri U. Ve. Balaji Iyengar Swamin rendered upanyasam on the topic ‘Sita Kalyanam’. The Swamin emphasized the importance of piraatti and how she saved the Bhaktas from dangers. It is on the recommendation of Thayar that Lord Rama ensures Moksham to those who surrendered at His feet.
Many bhagavathas attended the event and sought the blessings of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.
The next day, on April 17, to mark the wedding of Lord Srinivasa and Goddess Padmavathi, ‘Samoohika Vishunu Sahasranama Parayanam’ was organized. Tirumanjanam was performed to Tiruvengadamudaiyan. Prasadams were distributed to the devotees.
