Paramparaa – The Tradition Continues…

LAKSHMI NARAYANAN TEMPLE CRAVING FOR ATTENTION

The fabulous Sri Lakshmi Narayanan Thirukovil (temple) is situated at the village Kappur, adjacent to Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu.  It is important to bear in mind that on the banks of the Thenpennai river are the Divya Kshetrams(Holy temples) of Thirukovalur, Padhur and Parikal. The Lakshmi Narayanan Thirukovil (temple) is the centre of attraction on the banks, about ten kms from the Villupuram Highway, where the significance of the calm and quiet village of ‘Kappur’ is located. It is worthwhile to note that for several centuries, the residents of Kappur have been worshipping at “Sri Lakshmi Narayanan Thirukovil” with renewed vigour and never-ending enthusiasm.

Pavitrotsavam would be celebrated at our temple premises on three days, from November nine to eleven, this year. This is the second consecutive year the celebration would take place. Similar to last year, Veda prabanda parayanam and homam would be held. Eminent priests would perform the puja to gladden the hearts of the devotees and the people in general. It is quite natural that to organise a festival of this type requires a minimum expenditure, ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to three lakh. Our age-old temple is badly in need of funds.

Under the circumstances, we would earnestly request the devotees and the general public to contribute liberally for our temple, bearing the fruitful occasion in mind, either in the form of money or materials to the following banking address, as that would enable us to perform the coveted Pavitrotsavam festival to the entire satisfaction of the people. Needless to say, a small drop makes an ocean, as it serves the interests of the devotees, who throng the reverred temple with constant worries to seek the blessings of the god and the goddess.

If you intend seeking any further information/clarification on the issues related to our temple, please do not hesitate to keep in touch with our Managing Trustee, Sri K.S. Gopalan at his Mobile No: 9600163805 or else to our treasurer, Mrs Padmasini Rajagopal at her Mobile No: 9994860040. We are appending below further details related to our historic temple:

The temple stands on eight grounds of land, which portrays the almighty Sri Lakshmi Narayanan in the posture with Thayar (the goddess) seated on his lap with utmost pride. In this well-known temple, the devotees have the blessing-in-disguise, as they are also getting a god-sent opportunity to offer worship of Utsavarmurthy (Sri Varadarajan with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi Thayars), Sri Chakrathazhwar, Sri Vedanta Desikar, Sri Garudazhwar, Sri Anjaneyar, and Sri Adhivan Sadagopan. The Trustees are also keen on pointing out that the ancient temple with its historic tradition and significance was in a dilapidated and old-worn out condition. It was only renovated in early 2006 with the active cooperation and unstinted support from some devotees and donors, apart from the local villagers.

The authorities concerned are happy to inform that after the renovation-reconstruction-Jeerno-Dharana-Ashtabandana, Maha Samprokshanam was performed on June 28, 2006. During 2012, a separate sannidhi was constructed for Sri Lakshmi Narasimhan Moolavar and Utsavar and were consecrated. Samprokshanam was performed on June 29, 2012 in a grand manner. The devotees would also be immensely pleased to note that Utsava Moorthy of Andal was installed and Samprokshanam was performed for the renowned goddess. It is pertinent to note that Mangalasasanam for Azhwars, H.H. 42nd, 43rd and 45th Jeers of Sri Ahobila Mutt were performed in the recent past. The devotees would be delighted to note that about ten Utsavams are being performed every year with utmost devotion and enthusiasm.
