Paramparaa – The Tradition Continues…

MAHA SAMPROKSHANAM PERFORMED AT PERUMAL TEMPLE IN KAPPUR WITH APLOMB

Maha Samprokshanam was conducted successfully at Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Thirukoyil (temple) in Kappur on 12.9.22. We take this opportunity to urge you to join in this holy Kainkaryam and get the blessings of Perumal. The renowned temple is situated, adjacent to Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu.  It is important to bear in mind that on the banks of the Thenpennai River, are Divya Kshetrams (holy temples) of Thirukovalur, Padhur and Parikal. The residents of Kappur have been worshipping at “Sri Lakshmi Narayanan Thirukovil” with enthusiasm for a long time.  The age-old temple was built approximately 800 years ago and it was hailed by Peyalwar, Poigai Alwar, Boodathalwar and Thirumangai Azhwar. They also sung several songs lauding the revered Perumal. About 115 years ago, as desired by then Azhagiyasingar, Jeernottharanana Ashtapandana Maha Samprokshanam was conducted. For instance, every year, utsavam processions used to be taken around seven streets of the village surrounding the temple.

We are extremely thankful and grateful to late Shri Govindarajan and his wife Hema Govindarajan, as without their valiant and untiring effort, this well-known temple would not have materialised. Now Maha Samprokshanam was performed with the blessings of Ahobila Mutt’s revered 46th seer, Azhagiyasingar Sriman Sadagopa shri Ranganatha Yathindira Mahadesikan. The temple stands on eight grounds of land, which portrays the almighty Sri Lakshmi Narayanan in the posture with Thayar (the goddess) seated on his lap. The devotees are also  getting a god-sent opportunity to offer worship to Utsavarmurthy, Sri Varadarajan with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi Thayars as consorts), apart from, Sri Chakrathazhwar, Sri Vedanta Desikar, Sri Garudazhwar, Sri Anjaneyar, and Sri Adhivan Sadagopan.

It is pertinent to note that Mangalasasanam was performed by 42nd, 43rd and 45th jeers of Sri Ahobila Mutt to Perumal. Needless to say, we would desire your participation in nurturing the magnificient temple.

Now, Mandalaabhishekam is in progress from 13th instant and it would be completed after 48 days. The temple is in need of funds badly. We would request the devotees’ to sponsor at least for one or more days. Keeping the financial constraints of the people in mind, the devotees are asked to incur only Rs 1,000/-(Rupees one thousand only) for one day. However, it is entirely at their discretion to participate in as many days as possible.
